Sofía is a researcher and spatial practitioner from Galicia, Spain, currently based in London. Her work explores the entanglements between landscape, memory, and ecology through digital cartography, immersive environments, and community-driven research. Using architectural and digital tools, she examines how extractive and post-industrial processes reshape rural territories, questioning how technology can serve collective memory and environmental justice.

Sofía’s practice combines GIS mapping, photogrammetry, 3D modelling, and Unreal Engine simulations with archival and participatory methods. By merging spatial data and situated testimony, her projects, such as The River of Forgetfulness and Alborada, trace transformations in the Galician landscape and propose decentralized, ecological futures. Her work often takes the form of interactive web platforms, films and workshops, engaging publics beyond the conventional space of architecture.

She holds an MA in Architecture from the Royal College of Art, London, and a BA (Hons) in Architecture from the University of Westminster. Sofía has collaborated with Cooking Sections on the Waves lost at Sea exhibition at Centro Botín and a Climavore project, developing a research framework about water pollution in the Tagus River Basin, with Cross Works, developing immersive urban environments and digital twins for regeneration projects. Her work has been featured in the Fundación Arquia blog by Bartlebooth and La Opinión A Coruña, and she was internally nominated for the 2023 RIBA Silver Medal at the RCA.

Sofía’s current research continues to explore the role of spatial and digital practices in recovering erased rural narratives and landscapes.
